Not every piece in the atelier is finished.
This page follows the projects currently on the frame - or on the hoop - designs that are still growing, stitch by stitch. Cross-stitch is a slow craft, and many pieces take weeks, months, or even years to complete. Sharing works in progress allows visitors to see how a design developes over time, from the first stitches at the centre to the final details.
My usual approach is to begin at the centre of the pattern and build outward. Early stitches often form the "bones" of the design, creating reference points that help guide the rest of the work without needing to grid the fabric. From there the piece gradually expands, section by section.
Each project page records its progress with photographs and notes along the way, eventually becoming a finished entry in the Atelier Gallery once the final stitch is placed.
If you enjoy watching a design grow in real time, longer stitching sessions from these projects are also shared on Patreon.
Deer Couple is a personal piece, commenced on 28 February 2026.
