Theophora™ NZ
Theophora is a small studio in Christchurch, New Zealand. It's the parent business behind a family of handmade brands, each named after a figure from Greek mythology whose role matches what the brand does.
Everything is made or restored by hand, in small numbers, and brought out when it's ready rather than rushed to a schedule.
Handmade or hand-restored, in small batches.
We finish, mend and reuse rather than throw away — much of what we sell gives older materials a second life.
One studio sits behind every brand, so the standard is the same whichever door you come through.
Each brand is named and sourced with respect for the tradition behind it.
Each brand is named for the deity or word that fits its work. Hestia, goddess of the hearth, is family recipes. Clotho, the Fate who spins the thread, is the needlework service. Kosmae comes from kosmeo, "to order and adorn." The names aren't decoration — they're a quick way to say what each brand is for.
